Brooke "Cookie" Carrasquel is an athlete that has persevered through some tough times. This young lady has come through a long recovery from a severe ankle injury. An injury that started at the end of last year and through persistent physical therapy has allowed her to finally compete both indoor and outdoor.
Most recently on Sunday May 19th at the FAU Campus, Cookie participated in an AVP America Beach Volleyball tournament comprised of 12 teams in the 14U Division. To the joy and glorious excitement witnessed by her mom and club team (SoFLO Volleyball Academy) her and her partner (Elena Lam) competed all the way to a huge 3rd Place finish in their first pairing together!
Cookie, a 7th grader and Elena, an 11-year old 6th grader, beat teams older and more seasoned than they and this was only Cookie's 2nd beach event of the season.
The highlight of the day was Cookie and her partner taking down the top seed in the tournament to make it into the semifinals.
What an awesome feeling of overcoming and a huge surge of confidence exuded from Cookie this day. This was the best performance of her volleyball career to date and knowing this she can do anything her mind and body decides to do.
Congratulations again to Brooke "Cookie" Carrasquel for continuing with our club motto of Never Ending Improvement!
